Julian C @juliancooper_12 4 days ago A "so bad that it's good" film that I love to revisit because of the infamous ending See more Captin M @MrRecoil Sep 23, 2026 A strange movie. Maybe it was good for the 80s but it really isn't something that has kept up with the time. The acting was bad, the writing was bad, the outfits were strange and unsolicited (which can be excusable due to 80s fashion) and anyone with half a brain would have figured out who the killer was after the first murder. The gore and effects were descent, the portrayal of bullying was done quite well and it highlights a concern for gender dysphoria in kids (which I'm assuming is the main message of the movie) but apart from that it doesnt have many redeeming qualities. People often talk about the ending scene and the "twist", but again it was quite obvious after the first murder and the ending scene was just strange. There was also a lot of foreshadowing which is usually good, but in this case it just gave it away. See more Shadow R @GeminiShadowRealm Jul 3, 2026 The movie follows Angela, a painfully shy, traumatized young girl who is sent to Camp Arawak for the summer with her protective cousin, Ricky. Angela barely speaks a word, which immediately makes her a target. Soon after their arrival, anyone who treats Angela poorly starts dying in increasingly bizarre and gruesome "accidents." One of the most jarring things about Sleepaway Camp is just how mean, aggressive, and deeply unpleasant almost every single character is. You cannot talk about Sleepaway Camp without talking about its final 60 seconds. The ending isn't just a twist, it is a jarring shock that completely recontextualizes the entire movie. It is easily one of the most famous, weird, and jaw-dropping endings in horror history. See more Hayden O @Haydenthecritic Jun 24, 2026 best slasher of the 1980s See more Read all reviews
