It's not an easy film to watch, especially because so many of Jeff's family members are themselves walking disasters. But the performances by Gyllenhaal and Maslany make the ordeal worthwhile.

With its swelling score and obligatory shots of noble, fluttering US flags, the film buys into the hero narrative wholesale.

For a few nerve-wracking days, the Boston terror attack shook America, yet eventually acted as a spiritual salve that showed the nation’s strength and ability to back a common cause.

It’s an incredible true story that deserves to be told and Green allows his characters to do just that.

Green delivers his most accessible film to date, and nearly every beat of the film works as intended, even if we can occasionally see our heartstrings being pulled.

Passable true story film. Edgy and explicit language throughout the film made it seem too much for the sake of the film. However puts more emphasis on the Boston vibe.

It was a wonderful movie it was so impactful and deep and a realistic portrayal of tragedy and how it affects people. I must also say Jake Gyllenhaal showed another breathtaking performance.

A very realistic look at the aftermath of something terrible, delving deeper than the inspirational headlines into what life actually looks like for those impacted. Gyllenhaal delivers a strong performance in this role.

The film features phenomenal acting, with performances that bring intense emotion to the screen. The story pays tribute to the real-life events it depicts, making it powerful but difficult to watch at times. The raw emotion from the cast makes it a film I would recommend everyone see at least once.
