“The Human Trial” is not a visually dynamic movie. But it builds a good head of steam in the narrative intrigue department before resolving on a low-key note of hope. Go to Full Review

steven t @StepHam 11/29/2022 This is a really important film that gives insight into the hopeful and tragic process of drug trials and the challenges of bringing potential life saving drugs to trial. The characters are compelling and the story gripping See more Sheila K @RT90534594 11/24/2022 My sister and daughter were both diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of five. I grew up with it and I learned how to parent a young child living with diabetes. I have worked as an advocate and fundraiser to support diabetes stakeholder groups. AND still -- l learned so much from this film about what it really means to live with type 1. Intimate, emotional and still so very hopeful. See more joan jackson 09/26/2022 This film is excellent and shows vividly what patients go through to contribute to medical research The film shows we are getting closer than ever to a cure for type 1 diabetes. Excellent camera work See more 08/05/2022 The film provides an intimate peak into the lives of two people with type 1 diabetes who risk it all and volunteer for a study trial to cure T1DM. Along the way, you learn the real meaning of the term trial and how it impacts the people who agree to be first, how it affects their family and their community and even how it affects the team that has developed this novel strategy that they believe will cure Type 1 Diabetes. Lisa and Guy take you on a journey that is highly personal and intimate. The film is tender and brutally honest. It made me chuckle, and it made me cry. I was humbled by the courage and the resiliency of the films main characters. It gave me hope and a new sense of commitment. See more 07/31/2022 The Human Trial did a better job than anything I've seen on a screen conveying the challenges of T1. Seeing how sick the immunosuppressive drugs made Greg and Marena's failed transplant were striking examples of the difficulties inherent to clinical trials. Greg and Marena did a fantastic job, considering they are not professional actors. Well done! See more 07/28/2022 I loved this film at one of the theatrical screenings in Los Angeles. It discusses a subject that most people don't know about - Diabetes. It shows what diabetics must go through each and everyday just to manage their disease. The subjects in this documentary (a man and a woman who enrolled in the trial for a cure) were especially compelling! The director, also a diabetic, was able to get great access. She follows the subjects who enroll in a study for the cure for diabetes, as well as the scientists who are working on the cure. It was interesting to see both sides of a trial - the subjects, as well as the scientists working on a cure. I highly recommend this film to any aspiring documentary filmmaker.
