Mateo B @RT09542267 Oct 2, 2026 The acting was incredible and some of the shots were gorgeous. The only thing holding it back from a better rating was that I find it slow for sizable chunks of the movie. See more Noah H @Noah85 Sep 26, 2026 Awesome! Loved it. Colin Firth gives it his all in this movie, and I think he did an amazing job portraying a character with a stutter. One of my favorite reasons why I love this movie so much is because I can completely relate to King George VI. I personally have a stuttering problem that I am trying to improve, so I understand what his character was going through. I’ve never really seen this experience replicated in a movie before, so seeing it portrayed so well was very heartwarming. On top of that, Geoffrey Rush does an excellent job portraying King George VI’s speech therapist, and Helena Bonham Carter makes for a very sweet and caring Queen Elizabeth. Regarding the set design, it is AMAZING and perfectly captures the look of 1930s Britain. You really feel like there is a war going on in Europe, making for a movie with high stakes even though there is no action, violence, or gore. That is just another reason why I love it. Overall, The King’s Speech is an endearing film. The story was interesting to follow and, though the king is presented as a flawed person as we all are, he was likable and someone I was drawn to pull for. The details of royal life are exhibited in a way that is interesting and that pulled in my imagination. The film is a good experience and its characters were well portrayed and relatable. This is one that I recommend to a wide range of watchers. It’s a love letter to friendship and learning how to lean on someone. What an amazing ode to one man’s meeting of the moment and rising to the occasion when he was needed most. Amazing acting from all involved, together with a great script and masterful directing has made for a great movie that still holds up, 16 years later. See more Read all reviews
