Police Squad Lt. Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen) is retired and spending time with his new wife, Jane (Priscilla Presley), when he's called back into action by Capt. Ed Hocken (George Kennedy). A terrorist named Rocco (Fred Ward) plans to bomb the Academy Awards ceremony, so Frank goes undercover as Phil Donahue to try and head off disaster. Critics Consensus

Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult can't help but be sporadically funny thanks to Leslie Nielsen's dependably solid work, but it's still a steep comedown from the original.

...these projects aren't so much movies as they are fast-moving collections of gags, so the only significant question is whether the gags work and the answer here is a qualified yes.

...for good or ill, Frank Drebin is back on track - or rather, off track - ridiculous pratfalls, elaborate stunts, atrocious puns and ludicrous one-liners intact.

If The Naked Gun and The Naked Gun 2 1/2 had an endearing off-the-wall wackiness, The Naked Gun 33 1/3 has the feel of a movie with too many jokes off the cutting-room floor.

Although the template finally runs out of steam, there are still enough gags worth catching.

It’s rather repetitious and drawn-out here, failing to invent fresh routines or expand upon the Police Squad universe.

Still some laugh out loud funny moments, particularly towards the end with Leslie Nielsen as good as ever. However, a big drop from the first two movies as the writers seemingly forgot that the brilliance of the first two movies was in their simplicity.

Again, just like the previous two, I felt almost exactly the same. Pretty impressive that the whole trilogy made me feel the same after each film. Definitely going to be the most forgetful, but it was still funny.
