Critics Consensus

A bloody thrill ride designed to test the limits of more squeamish viewers, The Night Comes for Us wields a stylishly violent, action-packed punch.

Unless you are on the programming committee for the most literally bloody-minded of film festivals, you have never experienced as ludicrously violent and gore-soaked a film as The Night Comes for Us.

Here's hoping that someone of Tjahjanto's visceral talent eventually finds a way to stop the bleeding.

It uses a thin plot touching on the classic Hong Kong action themes of brotherhood and loyalty as an excuse to string together a series of gonzo action set-pieces so ingeniously bloody that one could conceivably classify the film as horror.

Whatever misgivings exists with the final scene, it’s hard to get too upset with a film that so consistently delivers all it promises on the action scene and then some.

This was a master class in fight choreography, cinematography, and storytelling. I greatly enjoyed watching this!

This is incredibly violent to the point of disturbing. Nonetheless, the fight scenes are some of the best I've ever seen. But this is a very dark and depressing story.

Might be a bit too violent and unsettling for some viewers, but the choreography and story is incredible

Best action, but the Raid is better

You're here for the action, not the plot. But still, the plot could be a little better.

The condo battle is absolutely bonkers. The pool table sequence is an all timer too.

Overwhelmingly gory - the fight scenes aren't choreographed to a commendable extent, they just rely on senseless violence. Watch the raid movies instead!!
