London, 1974. As Britain prepares for electrical blackouts to sweep across the country, trainee nurse Val (Rose Williams) arrives for her first day at the crumbling East London Royal Infirmary. With most of the patients and staff evacuated to another hospital, Val is forced to work the night shift, finding herself in a dark, near empty building. Within these walls lies a deadly secret, forcing Val to face both her own traumatic past and deepest fears in order to confront the malevolent force that's intent on destroying everything around her.

The Power elegantly knits together atmospheric terrors and institutional ones, providing a reminder that it's not always the things that go bump in the night that are the true threat.

An eerie chiller...great soundtrack, but the thing it really gets right is that it has its own atmosphere.

The movie's period spookiness and its #MeToo outrage have virtually nothing to do each with other, diminishing the efficacy of both and making it feel like a tract.

Rose Williams swaps her Sanditon bonnet and beachside promenades for a nurse's wimple and a decaying Victorian hospital in this jumpy British chiller from writer/director Corinna Faith.

While the film may build to a sort of resolution, we are made aware that the true evils in this tale are the very real systems and institutions that uphold those foundations that have pushed marginalized people down for as long as time can remember.

The Power seems less interested in scaring us as it does on finding an agreed social commentary

During the miners' strike, a trainee nurse is forced to work the dark shift during the 1974 rolling blackouts in London As the lead, Rose Williams delivers a standout intense performance. Sadly, as horror the film sports predictable genre mechanics and often repetitive supernatural beats. I see potential in the writer/director.

A possession story, a ghost story, a revenge story, as only the Brits can do. I enjoyed it

I watched half of it and regret it watching as long as I did. I should have listened to my instinct and stopped half hour in. It's boring. And that's saying something, because I have a high tolerance for mediocre horror films.

Great performances. I absolutely loved the shocking reveal as to why the new nurse was being haunted. Tim Treakle

Rundown facility, run down people, rundown humanity. Super creepy atmosphere in this building, with eerie sensations, sectoral apparitions, and unseen forces. So much distrust and gossip from many of our staff who are far too lazy and overly comfortable in their positions in life. Beautifully haunting and all the tropes of a classic haunted facility. The eventual possession of the only one who cares, and the pain inflicted upon them makes me smile my black grin, from my black heart. The silent will be, must be heard...
