Critics Consensus

Director David Bruckner makes evocative use of the Scandinavian setting and a dedicated cast to deliver a handsome -- if familiar -- horror story.

This steely British import examines the cost of male-bonding rituals...it's nice to see a horror movie really go for it in the home stretch.

The most disappointing kind of bad horror movie: the kind that's too smart to be this dumb.

Solid horror movie that leaves you with a little bit of something extra to think about at the end. How does fear affect your day-to-day life? Does fear control you, make you worship it?

Realistic characters, excellent character design, and some horrific surprises combine to make The Ritual stand out as one of the better horror films of the 2010s.

Giving the tried and tested Blair Witch formula a Hangover face lift - sans the comedy - The Ritual is a highly effective shocker.

One of the best horror movies I've ever seen. First time had me glued to my seat. I've watched this again and again. Great "monster" horror flick!

Arranca muy arriba, te engancha al toque la trama; pero después empieza a pinchar. Hacen abuso del monstruo. Lo muestran tanto que deja dar miedo. Parece monica geller cuando se pone el turkey en la cabeza. Igual vale la pena verla.

An intense survival horror which is surprisingly also very emotional, the story is complimented by the top notch monster design which looks terrifying. A very well rounded horror film and probably one of the best I've seen this year so far.

I love this movie, the characters changing overtime was great. Absolutely sick monster, the only reason this movie isn't a 5 for me is because the cult could have been directed better and the injured guy was just super annoying. I know that's supposed to be his character but he could have been written better and the plot wouldn't have changed.
