What to Know

Critics Consensus

Paul Greengrass' cinéma vérité-styled medieval epic draws most of its potency from the evergreen rage of wealth inequality, but its mingling of history and myth proves more awkward than enlightening.

The pacing is often thrilling, and the depiction of the King’s council is suitably boo-hiss repellent — step forward Tom Hollander as the treasurer Robert Hales. Go to Full Review

Even when it’s set in the 14th century, you instantly know a Paul Greengrass film. The kinetic charge the director gave Captain Phillips and the Bourne movies now crackles through his new project, The Uprising. Go to Full Review

Moises G 1 day ago AMAZING & DISAPPOINTING! This movie is GREAT. It really made me witness what people of England had to go through back in 1381. It had me rooting for them and questioning for the VIOLENCE that was happening both sides. I don’t know much about the HISTORY which is good because what happened in the movie got in shock and disappointed. See more Shannon J Oct 2, 2026 I loved it, everyone was exceptional. See more Christopher Oct 1, 2026 Good story. Good acting, Garfield is a brooding, reluctant protagonist. Accent is a bit hard to deal with in faster dialogue sequences, but a worthy watch overall. See more Kabir Sep 29, 2026 A beautiful film from start to finish. It is emotional to its core. I shed a tear watching it in the theater. The real antagonist of the movie is surprising. The ending is so badass that I was totally pumped watching it! That was so cool! See more Dennis Sep 25, 2026 I absolutely love the movie I believe that the way of the camera was use was a great artistic choice it really did make me feel like I was inside the events of the movie also the lens use on the camera was magnificent. See more Davis D Sep 24, 2026 Thought it was great. Almost didn’t go see it based on the negative reviews. Glad I ignored them. Great start to hopefully a series of Robin Hood movies.
