Critics Consensus

The Wall makes the most of its limitations -- albeit perhaps not quite enough to stretch its tight-focused action into a consistently gripping feature-length thriller.

The dialogue ("We're not so different, you and I") can sound a little ripe, but the action is appropriately brutish and impeccably timed.

It's an interesting premise, with moments of tension and visceral gore, but Taylor-Johnson's performance isn't strong enough to rescue the film from lengthy stretches of banality.

Like waterboarding, it ought to qualify as "cruel and unusual punishment".

...mostly due to its modest length and effective lead performance, I'm inclined to give The Wall a modest recommendation...

Though overall it may be better to wait for the home viewing, for those looking for tension-filled distraction on film and in a darkened theater, The Wall is for you.

Too one-dimensional and not nearly compelling enough for the big screen.

I watch this movie a few times per year. They both did an awesome job. Realistic enough, had substance, a great movie.

Long and not satisfying, even a loss can be satisfying and somehow this just makes me wish I hadn't wasted my time watching this movie.

Endlessly tedious with predictable short intervals of action.

I felt no connection. It starts off weird, with banter coming from a place of no chemistry. It felt similar to a horror movie at some stage stages, you know, where you would go "no don’t do that you idiot!" I love Aaron T. Johnson, I really do, but I don’t think this was a good fit for him. It felt like he was forced to do this. My number one gripe with the movie though was the constant racist slurs and hits from an ignorant and arrogant American. It felt a bit too "typical angry American in a war movie", except boring and unmotivated.

I liked it... not meny people do, but i did. I see people don't like that the sniper is talking to him. But i think he likes it, like he's playing with him. The sniper has such hate for the americans. This also makes the sniper (a normally silent, dark and unknown caracter) feel a bit more reel. 3,5/5 Worth a Watch. Maybe i'll watch it again
