The sequel is about as far from the original source as you can get while still using the title, The Woman in Black. It is just as far away from being interesting. Go to Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle Jan 9, 2015

What's missing from The Woman in Black 2, and what it needs most and has least of all, is suspense. Go to Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader Jan 9, 2015
Director Tom Harper conveys this theme through dark, moldy-looking mise-en-scene and the uniformly sullen performances he elicits from the cast; you're more likely to find this depressing than scary. Go to Full Review Joey Keogh Wicked Horror Sep 25, 2019

The Woman In Black 2: Angel Of Death is a profoundly frightening, relentlessly spooky film that wears how old-fashioned and traditional it is as a badge of honour. Go to Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Sep 19, 2019

You might be startled once or twice while watching Angel of Death, but the thrills are cheap tricks. Go to Full Review Alexa Dalby Dog and Wolf May 31, 2019

Though well acted and shot, and set in an interesting period, the story itself seems slight and predictable - or even unbelievable. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Harry H @Movies10 3 days ago Seems like rocking chairs are often used more as creepy imagery an scares than used to lolly bye baby's to sleep. Pretty average haunted house flick just a slight notch below the first film. See more B P @Bradster69 Sep 6, 2026 Not Bad, but Not My Favorite See more Jace T @CineChamber Nov 15, 2025 I generally like The Woman in Black, and honestly, I generally enjoyed the set up of The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death. However, this film was overall, sadly, boring, and the jump scares were so silly that it made them less and less enjoyable as the film went on. The kids in this film really don't help the entertainment value, but the main 2 actors do fine. See more James B @James_B May 5, 2025 Honestly it's not great and it's nowhere near as good as the first one and while it does have some tension it doesn't have great scares and the film just makes the main child infuriating. See more Jason W @Thejasonwatts Apr 25, 2025 Not going to lie, it had some nice visuals and maybe one cool part, but I couldn't keep engaged, it was very dry and boring. See more Erik Z @ErikZ Jul 24, 2023 The film relies on cheap jump scares and lacks the eerie atmosphere that made the first instalment somewhat enjoyable, resulting in a bland and forgettable horror experience.
