Critics Consensus

Lightly entertaining even as it hews to genre conventions, Upgraded is an appealing option for anyone seeking a good old-fashioned rom-com.

I think they set it in this very specific world of art, which, even if it's not entirely accurate, it's specific. So within its own world, it feels developed.

The movie is unevenly directed, and some scenes struggle to clear even the low bar set by more polished streaming originals. But Young succeeds nonetheless in channeling the freshman thrill of plunging into an alluring adult milieu.

This is a story about women supporting women, especially across generations, and that’s what makes Upgraded resonate more than just a frothy rom-com would.

Young’s Upgraded employs art in a romantic comedy that also doubles as a film about business, nearly leaning into workplace drama, and I believe there is something commendable about how those ideas are offered to the audience.

It's a romantic comedy that follows the genre's established formula, one we've seen on several occasions. It may differ in some small moments, but generally speaking, we already know what's going to happen. [Full Review in Spanish]

Too easy life and everything working out in the end when you were wrong all the time. No reality checks at all.

The ending scene when Will comes all the way back from London to New York to see Ana without informing and not even sure of she is single or not is very redundant and unrealistic. Plus, I don't think that it is safe and realistic to get in someone's car when you just met him for the first time in a country that you first visit.

If you're looking for a movie with a good storyline, this is not it. It's like a high budget version of the drama ad's, "Mr Kingsley of Kingsley corp",you see on YouTube. The roles and scenes all the extras play come of as unrealistic and vain. The main actors though are brilliant and actually do a good job of playing their roles. To bad like I said earlier the plot sucks considering the caliber of the actors.
