What begins as a love story slowly becomes a character study and then a psychological thriller. I had no idea where it was going. When David asks, "What is happening?" I felt the same way. The dialogue is smart, the performances are excellent, and I loved how the movie explores identity, desire, and what makes us who we are. My biggest issue is the middle, which can become confusing and unintentionally funny at times. I was frustrated on my first watch, but once everything came together, the ending completely changed my opinion. The resolution blew me away and left me satisfied. I also loved the quote, "Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around." It perfectly captures the movie's themes and made me want to watch it again. See more Shane E @Shaneewing May 26 The plot is difficult at times to capture (and really only comes together at the end) but that is the beauty of this film, as Cruise’s character struggles along with the viewer to understand what is actually happening to him. His moment of clarity at the end is ours as well, where the soundtrack and visuals are especially powerful additions to Cruise’s performance. At the center of it all: a lesson that truly sinks in as we realize the torturing consequences that our selfish actions can have on ourselves and the people to whom we connect.
