Leah McKendrick was inspired by the love she has for her own sister in telling this story. She has a solid foundation and vision for her film. It’s not just an easy rom-com but also a meditation on death, grief and moving on.

Having a white woman call a black man "a bargjn bin Hugh Grant" in 2026 is uber problematic no matter how you set it up. I will say the first 20 minutes were solid, good art that fiercely compels emotion. The remainder was a display of critically flawed, biased propaganda that does nothing more than to perpetuate unrealistic expectations of dating. Would not recommend, I got hooked from the beginning but regret wasting my time watching the rest the film hoping it would return to art again.

I didn't expect much but the charm in the movie just overpowers you. Zoey is excellent and so delightful and funny. Good emotion, good laughter, good acting by everyone. I think it's one of the best surprises of the year. Worth you watching for sure.
