It's a science-fiction survival film – the Ranger candidates are carrying blanks – with trace elements of Transformers, Battleship, and Spielberg's War of the Worlds. Somewhat derivative, but modestly enjoyable.

Substitute a giant metal robot spaceship entity for an ugly alien on the hunt and swap out Schwarzenegger for Reacher and you get the idea. While it certainly bloody enough to not just be another PG-13 FX spectacle it is still about as generic.

This harkens back to the 80s and 90s action-packed popcorn movies that kids and adults loved. It's straight-forward storytelling that's fun, engaging, suspenseful, with lots of action, and Alan Ritchson is tailor-made for this genre. Portraying the weary, reluctant action movie hero is his lane and I'd love to see him drive all the way to movie stardom!

This movie was fantastic man I understood why a guy in the force was trying to save his squad by showing them the true ability of being stronger to defeat the machines that were causing trouble in the army so they have to discover what kind of power the machines have but man overall this film was truly amazing and also a worthy watch in every aspect. A+

I first came to know about Alan Ritchson from the web series "Reacher". I like his tough guy roles; they really suit him, and I watched this movie only because of him. His performance has been really good in the film. As far as the film is concerned, I liked the concept and story of the film, it's a good one-time watch. However, I had expected more action in the end. I will give 7/10 for the story and action, and 9/10 for Reacher's (Alan Ritchson) tough and serious guy performance.
