With fine performances and a dark, dry sense of humor, The Weather Man is mostly cloudy with occasional rays of sunshine.

It’s a terrific role for Cage, whose widest smile always contains a flicker of anguish. And Caine is excellent as the unattainable father figure in this enjoyably downbeat tale of the flipside of career success Go to Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader Jun 28, 2022
Written by Steve Conrad, this is the smartest script director Gore Verbinski has ever had, and he makes the most of it, aided by a strong cast. Go to Full Review Zadie Smith Daily Telegraph (UK) Jan 17, 2018
It's a deeply honest and comic performance and seems filled with all the genuine humiliations that one imagines Cage himself has suffered in the past 10 years. Go to Full Review Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed Aug 16, 2013
Yet another retread of Cage's weak formula of a gloomy man examining his life. Go to Full Review Joshua Starnes ComingSoon.net Mar 7, 2011

The Weather Man is more of a parable than a story; it just goes on and on and on, and the only point is to endure. It's not very uplifting, but sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's sad; sometimes hopeful, and sometimes melancholy. But that's life. Go to Full Review Nick Rogers Midwest Film Journal Dec 2, 2010

Intended as director Gore Verbinski's palate cleanser before back-to-back "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequels, this is an apprehensive cringe comedy of male malaise. It's also Verbinski's best to date, a small-scale challenge he should attempt more often. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Oliver C @OliverClose 3 days ago Review The Weather Man is a story about a man who can predict the weather but cannot control his life. Nicolas Cage gives David Spritz a hollow calm that masks failure, shame, and regret. The writing cuts through the small humiliations of modern life. Career. Family. Money. Respect. None of it feels secure. The film asks a cruel question, what if getting your life together means accepting the life you have? See more John C @JohnCoch Jul 24, 2026 The Weather Man is a beautifully awkward storm of ambition, regret, and second chances. The great writing finds humor in life’s uncomfortable corners, turning a man’s personal chaos into something surprisingly funny and deeply human. Nicolas Cage delivers a perfectly measured performance, balancing sarcasm and vulnerability with effortless skill. Smart, honest, and quietly hilarious, it's a film that proves the hardest battles aren't always fought in the rain, they're fought with ourselves. The kids are incredible See more thiago s @Thiagostone Oct 2, 2025 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Read all reviews
