Critics Consensus

Implausible coincidences and an overly convoluted structure make the movie hard to follow or believe.

The four main characters are all odd, sad and lonely. No wonder they don't call each other on their cells to straighten things out -- they're all too depressed to dial.

Wicker Park is one of those maddening movies in which the characters do incredibly stupid things simply for the sake of plot contrivance, and everyone's problems would be solved if they simply picked up their cell phones.

A quite extraordinarily boring psychological drama of obsession, impersonation and mistaken identity.

Tortuously twisting in on itself, Wicker Park keeps you guessing as it keeps its central pair apart. But it's scuppered by a plodding obviousness that's underlined by a sledgehammer soundtrack.

To all the reviews saying, "They should have just picked up their cell phones," THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY CELL PHONES IN THIS FILM! Did you not notice that the film starts with a PHONE BOOTH scene and that ANSWERING MACHINE MESSAGES GET DELETED? Both are significant plot points. Were you looking at your phone the whole time this movie was playing?

If you want to get bored to the core, watch this movie. Rose Byrne was the only highlight in it

A strange film, but worth watching once.

I agree with some of the critics--which I hardly ever do, regarding the multiple social or communications not probable matters. However, one needs to watch Wicker Park at least a couple of times to be able to put all the pieces together (not all films should be judged at first watch [Alfred Hitchcock movies were at first overall dismissed but now he is overly hyped by critics, just but one example]). WICKER PARK IS A MUST WATCH. Fascinating film. Well covered story, even with its few shortcomings. Two thumbs way up.

I’ve watched this move over 10 times. It is incredible. Hard to follow initially but once you get it, the acting is great. Rose Byrne specifically is amazing in this

Movies like this are why I pay zero attention to movie cr1tics opinions, they are worthless.
