Critics Consensus

Zookeeper smothers Kevin James's with a sodden script and a surfeit of jokes inappropriate for the young viewers who would be intrigued by its juvenile storyline.

To produce something as emphatically unfunny as this, the script's five-man team must have whipped themselves into a state of mutual delusion. Go to Full Review Jason Best Movie Talk Dec 12, 2020

See more Manny V @RT14932771 Mar 14, 2026 Great movie always a good watch at whatever age! See more Yash B @yashbansal Feb 21, 2026 "Zookeeper" is a somewhat bizarre movie because it never feels like it fully commits to being a movie for adults or children. There are some jokes that are funny, and the romantic element of the story is sweet, but the movie just isn't engaging. I feel like there is potential for a better movie here if more work were put into the script and it were committed to being primarily for one audience. I think there is a sweetness presented here that is common in Kevin James' body of work that I didn't hate, but there isn't enough to say it is worth watching. Overall, it's a PG movie that isn't hurting anyone, but it also feels like there are better options available, even within Kevin James' library.
