As a boy, Louis "Louie" Zamperini is always in trouble, but with the help of his older brother, he turns his life around and channels his energy into running, later qualifying for the 1936 Olympics. When World War II breaks out, Louie enlists in the military. After his plane crashes in the Pacific, he survives an incredible 47 days adrift in a raft, until his capture by the Japanese navy. Sent to a POW camp, Louie becomes the favorite target of a particularly cruel prison commander.

The book is worth to read. The movie feels merely an executive summary. But then it would have taken easily 3-4 hours to capture the full story

Stunning film, can’t believe the bad reviews from the ‘critics’ as that is all they are capable of. Great cinematography and acting and was very surprised to see who directed it. So pleased I watched it. Give it the 10 minute test and you’ll see.

Great movie. Super inspiring and a movie everyone should see. This would be a good movie to show in middle or high school as it depicts a time in history that shows how much we should respect the troops past and present. The story itself was sad, fascinating, and incredibly motivating. Really well done. It drags in a few spots which is why it is 4/5 and not higher.
