Director Jeff Celentano doles out jump-scares and spooky vibes with all the flair of an AI-assisted software package. At least there’s that moat to look at. Go to Full Review

Overlong, overly reliant on clichés, and with so many fades to black that they loop back around from stylish to absurd, the film might kill an evening, but it won’t leave you itching to know who the killer is. Go to Full Review

Elizabeth Fowler’s adaptation of the B.A. Paris novel “The Break Down” is so clumsy that any sense of mystery or intrigue that exists is drowned out by inconsistent and ludicrous storytelling and expository dialogue. Go to Full Review

"'Blackwater Lane' suffers mightily from pacing issues, uninspired acting and a flimsy screenplay." Go to Full Review

When the movie has barely begun you will have it all figured out. Go to Full Review

Unfortunately, despite the potential of the premise, there's little in Blackwater Lane to get the blood pumping. Characterisation remains superficial, so it's hard to invest in anyone's fate. Go to Full Review

LingLing H @MyLingLing 3d It was soooo bad! First thing you notice is there is absolutely no chemistry between the two leads…and why do they keep putting senior men with middle age women?!?! WHY?! Can the movies stop trying to make us believe that women want to be with old men! Second thing, it was like slow motion. A two hour movie that could have been 20 minutes…but the acting still wouldn’t have been good. Haha I kept fast forwarding it. The main character summed up the entire movie in a minute at the very end. A two hour movie and she still had to tell us at the end what had actually happened. It was just so bad. See more Vlad B @RT33462965 3d This movie is horrible and the acting HORRIBLE. See more Mark F @CinemaMister Aug 2 The most haunting thing about this movie is how the viewer is magically imparted with a sixth sense of what will happen next, so rapid-fire are the predictable bumps in the night, or day. It definitely has a pretty setting, with a black moat, and a spooky castle in need of repairs, but leaves one wondering, "What was the point of all of this hokus-pokus?" See more Claudio C @Claudio666 Feb 13 Predictable Film (12,272 - 12 Feb 2026) The teacher Cass lives at a mansion in the countryside of England with her beloved husband Matthew. She has inherited the house and now she is renovating it with Matthew. Her best friend is Rachel since their childhood. While driving back home, there is a storm and Cass takes a short cut through the forest. She sees a parked car with a woman inside and she heads home. On the next day, she learns that the woman she saw was murdered. Cass has frequent memory loss and Matthew takes her to the psychiatric. Meanwhile Det. DC Lawson receives a tip of the presence of Cass at the crime scene and investigates her. "Blackwater Lane" (2024) is a predictable film, but underrated in many reviews. The greatest problem is the edition with the use of fade outs all the time, irritating the viewer. It is not difficult to find Matthew’s profile, but his partner is only revealed later. My vote is six. Title (Brazil): "A Casa do Engano" ("The House of the Mistake") See more Gregarious Y @RT74841773 Feb 3 It's entertaining. Good plot twists. I don't understand some of the terrible reviews.
