This historical drama fails on nearly every level. Despite extreme violence designed to provoke emotional reactions, Chhaava is paradoxically dull, hampered by an aimless screenplay, plot inconsistencies, and repetitive dialogue. Go to Full Review

It is ironic that at a time when the CBFC is taking active measures to prevent films from causing religious or political disharmony, a movie that actually encourages right-wing buffoonery is being celebrated as the industry’s saviour. Go to Full Review

Chhaava is an epic war film in all the wrong ways. This turgid 161-minute film has exploitative displays of epic ultra-violence. The movie's screenplay and performances are epic disappointments. And this entire misguided film is an epic repetitive bore. Go to Full Review

Abhilash Dec 9 Watch this movie and understand the reason you are here. The reason we are still civilized. The reason humanity still persists in the world despite overwhelming odds. It is because men like Sambhaji were willing to fight and die to keep the barbarians at bay. Get inspiration from them. Follow their lead. Because like it or not, in this war we are all soldiers and every field is a battle field. See more Tushar S @Tushar Dec 31 One of the best most accurate movies even made!! Have no idea why this has been rated so low on here See more Snehal k @Snehal Dec 15 A Magnificent depiction of a Lion Hearted emperor who lived and died for his motherland and a nation wide dream of Swarajya which once looked forlorn. The background score and sound track however is a mismatch with AR Rehman miserably failing to capture the essence of Maratha grandeur but overall the cinematography , screenplay and story looks on point and fits the bill perfectly. Vicky Kaushal has to be the stand out star in this film for the way he thoroughly lived Chaptrapati Sambhaji Maharaj through every fiber of his being. This movie makes you feel proud about our rich ancestral history and valour but also makes you sad about how bigotry , back stabbing and cheating from our own people led to the defeat and downfall of some really revered leaders and kings See more adithya s Oct 26 Suprised to see bollywood can still produce magnificent works like these. In an era where cliche, childish, mind numbing atrocities from Khans are celebrated and failed in the mainstream, this is eye candy for sure. The efforts of the whole team is extraordinary. Glad to see atleast somebody from the industry still knows how to make great movies. See more Suhas B Oct 13 Chhaava – A Roar That Stirs Every Marathi Heart After a long time, a film truly made me feel proud, emotional, and goosebumps-struck all at once — Chhaava did exactly that. It isn’t just a movie; it’s an experience that reconnects you with history, bravery, and the soul of Maharashtra. From the first frame, the film pulls you into the world of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj — not just as a warrior, but as a son, a strategist, and a man of principles. The storytelling captures his intensity, his sacrifices, and the pain behind his courage. Every dialogue feels powerful, like fire wrapped in poetry. The writing and direction make sure that even those unfamiliar with the history can feel the weight of his legacy. The cinematography is breathtaking — the battle scenes are grand but not chaotic, the palace visuals have depth, and every scene carries a royal aura. The music and background score deserve special mention. The dhols, chants, and orchestral layers blend to give you literal goosebumps. There are moments when the drums and the chants together feel like your heartbeat syncing with the rhythm of Maratha pride. The performances are the heart of this film. Vicky Kaushal brings both ferocity and grace — his eyes speak volumes even when words don’t. The supporting cast adds emotional grounding, especially in scenes portraying loyalty, betrayal, and sacrifice. Every emotion — pride, grief, rage — is portrayed with intensity but also with restraint, never turning melodramatic. The film’s emotional depth really shines in the later parts — the pain of injustice, the silence of loss, the strength in standing by one’s dharma — all are shown with sensitivity. By the climax, you don’t just watch the story; you feel it in your veins. What impressed me most is how Chhaava balances history with emotion. It never feels like a dry historical lecture; instead, it’s alive, cinematic, and deeply human. It reminds us that history isn’t just dates and wars — it’s about people who lived, loved, and sacrificed for something greater than themselves. When the end credits rolled, I was still sitting there, silent… overwhelmed. It’s rare for a film to make you proud of your roots and emotional at the same time. Chhaava is not just a movie — it’s a salute to valor, sacrifice, and the immortal spirit of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Go watch it with your family, feel the power, and carry that pride in your heart long after you leave the theatre. Don't listen to the critics or see the crappy ratings and reviews. They r nothing but subterfuge. Watch the movie urself, judge it by urself and rate it urself.
