Barney C @RT39170571 11/27/2024 This film is spectacularly bad. You name it, it’s an issue. Plot, acting, dialogue, audio - the list goes on. It ranges from major problems - why are there ACTUAL GHOSTS in this?? - to minor inconsistencies - why does the daughter say ‘nice to meet you’ to her mum? - seemingly endlessly. The two leads have less chemistry than a chicken and a fox, not to mention the guy looks 20 years her senior. In contrast, the weird messaging that the protagonist is wrong for taking a job she seems to enjoy over some random dude she met 5 days ago couples nicely with the hilarious absurdity of the proposal (?!?!?!?) scene being routinely interrupted with the President (?!?!?!) reading a bedtime story to a group of people we don’t know or care about. The strange montages don’t help, especially with the wild choice of Christmas covers warbling over them. The cameraman I think has been challenged by the director to find the most bizarre angle and shoot from there, because the movie flat out refuses to film front on. The audio sounds like it was recorded when nobody expected it, and somebody clearly forgot that the set needs to be cleaned once in a while. Literally everything in this film is majorly flawed. And yet it’s unintentionally hilarious. I have never laughed so hard at a Christmas movie, and I guess that’s what it’s all about.
