Granted the film focuses on Vajpayee but the gaze is perfunctory, an excuse really to outline a glossed over portrait of India pre and post Partition that villanises anyone and everyone who is not Vajpayee and from his party.

Main Atal Hoon is entirely free of the irony that can redeem flattering portraits of famous people. Ravi Jadhav’s Vajpayee hagiography is a Greatest Hit parade of its subject’s political career, serving as a puff piece on the party and its parent.

Brilliant acting by Pankaj supported by a strong script and screenplay. Just felt that more time was needed and it's better to break it up in 2 parts.

A well-acted but thoroughly sanitised BJP hagiography that reduces Atal Bihari Vajpayee to a gentle, poetic mascot. Pankaj Tripathi shines, but the film cowardly glosses over Babri, Gujarat 2002 and Vajpayee’s RSS ties, choosing propaganda over honest biography. More extended campaign video than meaningful cinema." Critic Consensus: Earnest performances cannot save this agenda-driven, surface-level tribute that prioritises political reverence over historical truth.
