Famous actor Paul Dano comes to Herman in a dream, convincing him to make his feature film "Bear Naked Amazonians from Mars." If he meets the deadline, the film will take Best Feature at South by Southwest, making Herman an international celebrity. This irreverent and hilarious tribute to independent filmmaking functions as both a step-by-step guide and a cautionary tale with a farcical bent.

My Movie Starring Paul Dano captures the beauty of coming together to create, even if what you create never sees the light of day, in an infectious way. Go to Full Review

While My Movie Starring Paul Dano isn't a perfect film, it sure is a perfectly entertaining film. Go to Full Review

While a lot of films about filmmaking tend to be cynical and arch, this film is unapologetically sweet-natured toward its cast of oddballs and what it takes to get a movie made, whether or not the end result is good. Go to Full Review

Linny L @LinnyVH 11h My Movie Starring Paul Dano is definitely well worth the watch. Multiple times but that's me. I loved the opening watching them trudging up the hill, commenting. What a great start. Funny and endearing throughout. Loved the story, the characters, the way it was presented. And love not being able to predict where a film is going. I highly recommend it! See more Frank V @Drumhead69 12h I thought this movie about a filmmaker making a B movie film against all odds was hysterical. The characters were warm and likable. The situation is totally believable and the madcap adventure and feel good pay off at the end really rounded out this story. I’ve watched it three times. It’s pretty laugh out loud. I can’t wait to see more!! See more Natalie V @RT38229592 3d Joe Bartone does it again! This fun and unique film proves how creative indie filmmakers can be on a budget. Congratulations! See more Chris F @Daintycaf 4d A fun, lighthearted movie, this story thrives on its charm and chemistry. Uncle Pio is hilarious. See more Gerry P @GerryP007 6d Listen I was involved from early on and convinced it worked. An unusual film that was fun, laugh-inducing, diverse, and based on a wild swing at filmmaking. The storyline ends with a creative twist and the characters are all pretty believable, at least the main ones. The slipped in music video was a catchy gas and worth the price of admission at a minimum. If you’ve ever dreamed about success in an improbable circumstance stance—in a creative field, even in romance, deception be damned—I do declare that you can sit back and watch this with a big smile on your face. Congratulations to Joe Bartone and the team! See more Lukas Klaus H @RT79604594 Jun 4 Every now and then, an indie movie comes along that tries something new. Where most filmmakers fail, Joe Bartone manages to make an exciting darkly humorous take on difficult life lessons work. Clearly blood, sweat and tears went into went into making this film and it shows. In a world where studios dictate what we should watch and like, stacking the ad campaigns and reviews, it's important to remember that indie films like this are where risks are taken and real visions are ventured. Not made for pure profit, but made for telling that personal story that matters. Give this film a shot. You won't regret it. See more Read all reviews
