The budget must have been huge, as the sets were pretty amazing for the time. There was a fair amount of Soviet propaganda going on -- "we must sacrifice ourselves for Mother Russia" kind of thing. In all, the story was pretty boring. I suppose that at the time, the eye candy of it all distracted from the basic lack of story. See more 05/11/2012 This was very interesting...its very memorable stuff....i found it started off a bit slow...but somehow it got going and became easier to watch....it has great space suits....great real locations with great cinematography...but also sound stages too....it is however a BIZARRE film and very silly at times....but is a very enigmatic movie...and very ahead of its time.
