Depending on how you take your twee - sparingly or, as is the case in this preciously concocted tale of English misfits, slathered like marmalade over a crumpet - it will either delight or quickly cloy.

All the actors are talented, but there's nothing to bite on to. This empty lacking. This quirky cutesy. This sugary syrupy. This irksome irritating. THIS BEAUTIFUL FANTASTIC.

A slight, sweet tale about would-be novelist Bella whose life is governed by rules and checks until she tackles her overgrown garden. It doesn't even try to be subtle with the gardening and spreading your wings metaphors but its four misfits are engaging.

An ostensible fairy tale of the creative life in London that tries too hard to be eccentric, while also trying too hard to be grounded and realistic. This is one of those idiosyncrasies that you really can't have both ways.

It is uplifting, funny, and imaginative. It is allegorical in revealing friendship and overcoming obstacles with purpose. The acting was very, very good. I loved it.

It’s a slow movie with a big message of human connection and friendship. I liked the slowness of this movie; it fits. Nothing too over dramatic. Just a sweet and easy story.

Effectively, a very bad Richard Curtiss film, but by someone else. Half a star because they managed to point the camera in the right direction. Perhaps it would work better with the sound turned off and the audience making up their own story to the pictures?

Good movie but it reminded me of Amelie. I even looked up to see if the director or producer did Amelie in 2001. The style of music to the zoomed in photography were Trademark of Amelie. Also in Amelie it was her mom & dad that had obsessive neatness. And the hairstyle; the ”bob” of the young girl, etc. Amelie had a stair bob tho. I think they tried to copy elements of Amelie, but not anywhere as great of a movie as Amelie was. I have the DVD; 📀 seen AMELIE many times.
