Wonder Man — Season 1

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Wonder Man, turning in a sly performance alongside an equally wonderful Ben Kingsley in this low-stakes superhero fare that boasts high-hearted personal drama as its winning factor.

Mike Hale New York Times 12h
Wonder Man is consistently charming, though, when Abdul-Mateen and Kingsley are together, playing a very odd couple whose friendship is repeatedly put through the wringer in the style of “Midnight Cowboy,” a film they bond over. Go to Full Review

It just doesn’t quite have the chops, or the nerve, to believe that the banal forces governing this world, be they insurance policies or studio logic, can be as dramatically powerful as the ability to fly. Go to Full Review
Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times 12h
Abdul-Mateen and Kingsley work well together; their energies are complementary, laid back and loose versus worked up and tight and, of course, each will have something to teach one another about who they are and who they could be. Go to Full Review

6/10
In a crowded landscape of superhero content and prestige television, "decent" simply isn’t enough anymore, but it’s undeniably easy to watch, and occasionally charming. Go to Full Review

It may not hold your typical superhero stakes, but the story of Simon Williams feels as fresh and emotionally resonant as anything Marvel television has produced in a while. Go to Full Review

A pleasant surprise. The chemistry between Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley makes this Hollywood-centric series work. It’s a slow burn that handles mental health better than Thunderbolts. A grounded, unique Marvel spotlight that rewards patience. Go to Full Review

Teej K. @GMK92 4h I thought it was a fresh take looking at a superhero. It started with more mystery than explaining which draws in the viewer. In some ways it also felt like a family friendly version of “The Studio” as well. In a world where it is so much harder to find family friendly programming, it was refreshing. Overall I really loved the story telling and pacing. See more Juan Carlos O @juanolivares 4h No esperaba nada de esta serie y terminó siendo una joya. Ahora sí creo que Marvel puede reinventarse para entregar producciones de calidad. See more Kenney W 4h One of the best Marvel Disney+ Shows, Yahya Abdul-Mateen was great as Simon Williams. Ben Kingsley returns as Trevor Slattery and as always, he does not disappoint. Daniel Destin Cretin and Andrew Guest had a great vision with this show, and it worked. Byron Bowers also has a great role in the show. It did not even need action scenes to be great. (8.5/10) See more Bernardo A @DeAlva95 4h A super hero show that’s dares to be different, and it definitely succeeds ay it! Wonder man it’s simply a joy to watch. See more Trinity G @trinity.shanice 4h Wonder Man is the most non MCU show and i mean that in a good way. It took risk in a colorblind casting but it only evaluated the story. Episode 3 and 4 was a stand out for me. Definitely worth the watch See more Godzilla blaze M @GodzillablazeMrknoxville 5h This was actually good I had fun watching it the trailer did make it look disappointed but omg this was good episode 4 was my favorite and episode 6 i thought they pull a boys version for a second but this season wasn’t bad at all it was enjoyable the action the story was there really hope we get season 2 now episode 5 and 7 wasn’t my favorite but it was alright I like 1-4 and 6 episode 8 it had it moments but overall I give it a 8/10 See more Read all reviews
