Keith Nov 21, 2020 To see Timothee Chalamet play the piano and sing is worth the price of admission! See more James M @Jimmy99 5 days ago This movie is excellent. It may be average for a Woody Allen film, but this means it is well above other films. I found this to be highly entertaining with witty dialog, strong acting, charming actors, and gorgeous cinematography. This is a nice one for repeated viewing. See more Huntin P @PaxVobiscum80 Sep 14, 2026 Its release delayed, for no good reason, on account of MeToo panic, A Rainy Day in New York (2019) is a mostly charming little comedic bauble (Woody's term) which benefits from excellent performances, especially from the women. Elle Fanning, Selena Gomez, Cherry Jones, and Rebecca Hall, all are superb. Chalamet is, perhaps, a little too contemporary for a character like Gatsby, but then again Gatsby is a student, someone searching for his identity, so I guess it's alright. No question, Rainy Day has some clunky dialogue. It also has some very funny dialogue. This is the first time that Woody has worked with a young cast since 2002's awful Anything Else. Rainy Day benefits from a broad age range in the story: the college students, the forty-somethings, the elders in the background. I talked about the women, but really, Liev Schreiber, Jude Law, and Diego Luna, all provide excellent support. Vittorio Storaro gives the film an autumnal glow. Recommended. See more Lucile F @lucile_fl Jul 21, 2026 A Rainy Day in New York is very long, very wordy, and very boring. Sitting through the entire film felt like being held hostage. Somehow, all of the acting from a cast that was promising to say the least turned out to be terrible, hardly any better than a GCSE drama play. Not to mention the plot itself which is without substance and predictable. Soapy, cringe and absurd, I would not recommend watching this film, it is a waste of a 2 hours. See more Angela H @Angie1234 Jun 25, 2026 I absolutely love this film. Timothee Chalamet is adorable. I think it's very funny and the cast is superb. I was surprised that it was written by Woody Allen. Timothee singing and playing the piano is a gorgeous part of the film, Everything Happens To Me. See more Emma C @RT41771677 May 29, 2026 Not personally my cup of tea but I like Timothee chalamet and Selena so I don't dislike the movie entirely. I wasn't quite sure what I was walking into when I turned it on because I just randomly turned this movie on out of boredom and was looking for another cute romcom type movie. I def wouldn't call it a romcom, it tried exploring some deeper themes like infidelity and such that I wasn't prepared for lol. I can see how it was supposed to come across artistically and I respect that, but personally I just thought it was too much. I mean your typical woody Allen film if your into that (I personally am not a big fan but I didn't realize it was a allen film when I turned it on haha) but hey I got to see timothee on my screen for 2 hours so I am not mad about that See more Read all reviews
