After years in a mental institution, George is finally released and tries to adapt to life outside the hospital's walls. Things quickly become eventful for George, however, when he is mistaken for Abe Fielding (also Wilder), a wealthy man who recently vanished. When the shifty Eddie Dash realizes the situation, he decides to seize the opportunity and have George pose as Fielding, resulting in plenty of odd and awkward moments.

Critics Consensus

So stubbornly unfunny that not even a reunited Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder are enough to give it a spark, Another You is worse than none at all.

In the press kit for "Another You," the film's director, Maurice Phillips, speaks of a "real chemistry" between co-stars Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor that's "incredible to watch." Never trust a press kit.

An abrasive, spectacularly mirthless comedy.

The two stars for "Another You" are for the two stars of "Another You" -- Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder, a proven comedy team hard-pressed here with a script locked on zero.

Another You is ignominious, and seems impossible for anyone to like it. [Full review in Spanish]

A painfully inept comedy that tries so very very hard to be goofy and off-the-wall that you wind up feeling sorry for the participants.

Richard Pryor looks like he just walked out of a sarcophagus, and the only laugh in the entire movie is Gene Wilder’s hair.

Don't know why this rates so low. Another classic by a great comedy duo. Don't believe the haters. If you didn't laugh you better check your pulse.

Vague, confusing, and pointless, but you get to watch Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor for a couple hours. There are worse ways to spend time.
