The stylish film hammers home how highly questionable portraits of Sebring were disseminated in the media after his death, obscuring the real man.

Jay Sebring... Cutting to the Truth is not without interest but in the end, the only people who will find it of genuine interest are those who already know about the man and his accomplishments in the first place.

Why the murder of a beautiful starlet would be the "hook" for the coverage is not a mystery. But Cutting to the Truth makes a case that, in terms of Hollywood influence and potential, Sebring was the "name" victim in the massacre.

As with every "documentary" where the filmmaker is a family member of the subject, this starts promising and devolves into a narcissistic exercise of self promotion. The subject of the film was supposed to be Jay Sebring, not his nephew and his boring poses for the camera. Someone should do a real documentary about him.

REMARKABLE, INSIGHTFUL, & HEARTBREAKING! Finally a deep, insightful look at who Jay Sebring actually was as a person- & not just a "murder victim". His nephew Anthony DiMaria does such a remarkable job with this documentary walking you through Jay's entre life story. This is a real eye-opener for anyone who thinks they know who Jay Sebring was. It includes such amazing personal film footage & photos never-before made public. Hearing his story told through the people who really knew him best shines a light away from his tragic ending & back where it belongs- on the man who revolutionized men's hair styling & was absolutely legendary in his own right.- A MUST SEE film- A.J. Patierno
