This is a film stripped back to its bare essentials, and Spielberg thrives in having to get creative to make each moment feel as fresh and energised as the last. Go to Full Review

Nandhu R @Kingmaker___6 1h It's a single chase scenario, but an engaging one throughout. They turn a simple road chase into an edge of your seat experience. It's a must watch thriller. Proof that great filmmaking doesn't need a complex story. 55 years later, this one is still a masterclass in suspense. 🚛🔥 The beginning of the Spielberg era...💕 See more Sam E. @WiscoReviews 2d It’s Spielberg week! So that means I’m gonna do my best to watch every movie I haven’t seen from him, and this is his directorial debut. What an insane movie this is, and it also really shows what a great director he is, with a pretty great opening shot of the car leaving the house and driving through the opening credits. A very simple premise of a crazy truck driver vowing revenge on one man and the insane journey they go on. You can see how this inspired the Mad Max series, Christine, or Maximum Overdrive where the vehicle itself is the antagonist. I don’t think this movie is amazing; some scenes drag on, and I almost think it would’ve benefited from being shorter and tighter, adding more suspense instead of the stopping and going we saw a TON of. But Spielberg really was so special right away with this flick. A great start to an amazing career. 8.3/10. See more Adam K @SunsetLonerCinema May 15 Crazy to think that Spielberg's stunning debut feature was a TV movie. A monster film that plays out as a thrilling car chase spectacle, its coated with rich themes and a poignant eye that would foreshadow Spielberg's definitive sense of creative direction. See more Blake- N @PBSAniDom May 1 Duel (1971) is, for me, the only perfect 10/10 film I’ve seen that originally aired on television, and it remains unmatched as the best of its kind. What makes it so effective is its simplicity and execution. It takes a very minimal setup and turns it into something constantly tense and gripping from start to finish. The direction is tight and controlled, building suspense in a way that feels natural and relentless without ever needing excess or distraction. The pacing is excellent, and the atmosphere keeps you locked in the entire time. It’s a masterclass in how to build tension with restraint, proving that you do not need a big scope to create something unforgettable. Overall, Duel stands as a near-perfect thriller and a benchmark for TV movies. I rate it 10/10. See more B B. @betbro Apr 8 Great story, scenery. See more Tyler N @RT33166214 Apr 3 Solid movie. Must have been amazing for its time. I was hoping for a motive but never got one. On the other hand, cool how they never showed the villain. Or maybe they did and we never knew who it was. Maybe it’s revealed online. I’ll take a look. If you want a high-intensity road rage film, go for it. Maybe 5-10 minutes too long at the end but a good watch. See more Read all reviews
