There is something incredibly special about bonding over this specific brand of timeless, laugh out loud comedy. Trading chuckles over the sheer ridiculousness of the aircraft carrier scenes and watching him crack up at Lloyd Bridges' antics added a whole extra layer of joy to the film. It turned a great comedy into a fantastic, memorable memory. See more Melissa M @Lisey May 24, 2026 Lloyd Bridges has been in so many movies parodies & spoofs. In the film Hotshots he's beyond LOL. Didn't care for the part where insinuated that black cats are bad luck. Other than that it's kind of neat that Ryan stiles & Jon cryer are in this movie. They both starred with Charlie Sheen in the show two and a half Men. Christy Swanson is also in the movie. She starred in a film with Charlie Sheen called The Chase. A lot of the one-liners in the movie. And comedy references were a little obscure. This is a fun family friendly movie. Think that even Tom Cruise would find it hard not to laugh while watching this movie. Some humor has aged better than other aspects of the humor, but All around a solid film, with a solid cast and a solid plot, and hey, it's still very funny!!! By exaggerating tropes like the brooding pilot, the melodramatic romance, and the over-the-top action sequences, Hot Shots! invites audiences to laugh at the genre’s excesses while still enjoying them. Unlike some parodies that rely solely on crude jokes, Hot Shots! blends slapstick with clever wordplay, visual gags, and meta-humor. Charlie Sheen’s stoic delivery and Lloyd Bridges’ chaotic energy create a dynamic contrast that fuels much of the film’s humor. Their performances elevate the absurdity, making even the most ridiculous scenes feel grounded in character. In a world often weighed down by serious narratives, Hot Shots! offers pure escapism. Its humor creates a lighthearted atmosphere that allows audiences to relax, laugh, and enjoy the ride without emotional baggage. Humor isn’t just a feature of Hot Shots!—it’s the foundation.
