Critics Consensus

The warmth of traditional Disney animation makes this occasionally lightweight fairy-tale update a lively and captivating confection for the holidays.

The Princess and the Frog will certainly be remembered years later as not only a pioneer Disney movie, but also one that allowed audiences to never let go of their dreams and that with love anything is possible, no matter your age or color.

The backgrounds are beautifully drawn. There are sunny days in the French Quarter, spooky nights among live oaks hung with Spanish moss, and a rousing denouement at the Mardi Gras.

The Princess and the Frog represents a welcome return for Disney and a beacon of cartoon light that the company should aspire to with every new effort.

The narrative is largely dull and the representation ranges from overdue to problematic. While the film still has a charm, specifically in its visuals, the overall viewing experience is more average than anything else.

I came for the music. Great music. The story was pretty good. Some things just felt off/ had bad pacing, but over all, it's worth a watch.

this is the best Disney movie and can sit on the pedestal of other great Disney classic movies such as 'Mulan', 'the Lion King', 'Hercules', and 'Lilo and Stitch'. I love Princess and the Frog, Louisianan setting reimagining a European tale, so it works within an American movie. also let me say i am extremely glad that Tiana is not another one of those princesses who needs saving.

I can remember if I ever watched this so it feels likes a first watch. It's okay though, not my favorite Disney movie to be honest. It was cool that they finally chose to make a black Princess movie.
