Never really understood the hate for the movie according to the rotten tomatoes score. See more Cork B Apr 20 Not awful, but not particularly memorable. My dad loved this... I suspect it hits with more impact if you are in the final act of your life. Something like Grumpy Old Men was better, but there are some laughs (notably Schaal). My biggest issue with the film is it isn't very cohesive. Scenes and supporting cast just show up, often cut in roughly, only to never be seen again. There is kind of a thematic arc about reaching for your goals and reconnecting, but I think the writing didn't help. Redford and Nolte have always been decent actors, but the are maybe a bit old for this. Hard to tell with Nolte, he always looked rough, even when he was young. See more Read all reviews
