During a solo voyage in the Indian Ocean, a veteran mariner (Robert Redford) awakes to find his vessel taking on water after a collision with a stray shipping container. With his radio and navigation equipment disabled, he sails unknowingly into a violent storm and barely escapes with his life. With any luck, the ocean currents may carry him into a shipping lane -- but, with supplies dwindling and the sharks circling, the sailor is forced to face his own mortality.

This character played by Redford should never have been allowed near a boat let alone on a solo circumnavigation of the globe. I like Redford as an actor but this character was functionally incapable. Its lke someone who has never been on a boat, or rarely goes outside wrote this scirpt.

A tight script compliments a smashing, heartfelt, deeply emotional performance by Robert Redford. The film grips you quickly and in spite of the extremely few spoken words it never lets you go. If you appreciate a story featuring a gamut of human feelings, and attempted overcoming of impossible odds, this will reward you.
