A riotous and raunchy exploration of the most eagerly anticipated -- and most humiliating -- rite of adulthood, known as losing one's virginity. In this hilarious lesson in life, love and libido, a group of friends, fed up with their well-deserved reputations as sexual no-hitters, decide to take action.

Critics Consensus

So embarrassing it's believable, American Pie succeeds in bringing back the teen movie genre.

What makes it particularly appealing is that, although the story is told from the point of view of a group of male friends, their female counterpoints get equal dramatic weight, and a decent share of the funniest lines.

American Pie has a likable cast, but the actors appear throttled back by a pedestrian script and direction. Consequently, one winds up liking the film more than it deserves because of the gameness of its attractive cast.

Another giggly gross-out comedy for teenagers, this one somewhat better than most by virtue of a more satisfying ending.

What once looked like warm apple pie, now resembles the pie after Jim is done with it. a difficult rewatch of a film I used to love. Parts of it are still objectively funny, and Eugene Levy is still one of the great dads’s of cinema.

American Pie is the 1999 teen movie that pushed limits by depicting high school teenagers with an honest portrayal on screen.

The tight writing and direction underpinning this very likeable ensemble chuckler nails every tacky joke and surreal sight gag with considerable aplomb.

I remember seeing this in theater and the people I went with. I had never laughed so hard before in a movie! So I was excited to revisit this in 4k. For me this movie still holds up and still delivers all the laughs. This movie is more than just a teen comedy it deals with friendships and all the things that come with it. This movie is timeless we all remember what high school was like. As for the 4k transfer it’s not the best and it’s darker than I think it should be. I am still glad I upgraded my dvd to 4k cause despite the darker scenes this is still definitely better than the dvd.
