The film's heart is in the right place but it never rises above the level of a polemical melodrama. Go to Full Review David Stratton The Australian Apr 16, 2014

Young Leyva has a smile that lights up the screen, but the film makes the mistake of depicting several of the characters as though they were villains from some lesser movie. That the film overcomes this approach is testament to its essential spirit. Go to Full Review Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) Apr 9, 2014

Any Day Now is a movie of good intentions and bad wigs, warm-hearted but slightly oversimplified. Go to Full Review Steve Cruz OUT FRONT Magazine (Denver) May 9, 2023
Less-skilled filmmakers might have gone overboard with forced emotion, plot contraptions and flat characters, but director and co-writer Travis Fine has crafted a deeply moving piece that feels rooted. Go to Full Review Rita Cannon Battleship Pretension Mar 16, 2021
...as slight as the story is, Any Day Now proves that Matt Jay knows how to set a mood and it's one that should resonate with anyone who's ever felt uneasy in a new place. Go to Full Review Alexander Ryll Gay Essential Sep 15, 2019

isla s @RT89656869 Sep 2, 2022 This is a well made drama about an interesting true story. I thought the performances were good and its relatively thought provoking - the discrimination faced by the couple is frustrating and I can certainly imagine it having happened. It is somewhat sentimental - some people may feel its a bit too cheesy for their liking but I wouldn't say its entirely over the top in a forced sentimentality sense. Its sobering and thoughtful and there's also some amusing moments. I thought it was a relatively solid watch with a good story and so I'd recommend it on that basis. See more Jun 22, 2016 A very flat story with a cast that just didn't feel right to me. See more May 30, 2016 it needs a lot of work but appreciated effort. See more Apr 28, 2016 30 mins in,I don't like its tone...and I just cant watch any more...I couldn't get past grubby Alan C looking like Margeret Hamilton wearing a cheap wig...he most definitely does not make a convincing drag queen...and Garrett Dillahunt, who's hair also looked suspect...put me in mind of an axe wielding serial killer for some reason...just creepy.
