Like its supersonic, jets-in-his-feet hero, the movie itself feels totally robotic. Go to Full Review

Bowers's play-it-straight attitude towards the material combined with the crisp, if unspectacular, animation doesn't allow 'Astro Boy' a moment to bob its head above the ever-swelling digimation pack. Go to Full Review

What makes this peppy kids' film interesting is the human/robot apartheid system that has evolved in the futuristic world that Astro inhabits. Go to Full Review

The movie has its heart in the right place with its pro-eco, anti-war message, the action is energetic and it's fun trying to work out who in the eclectic cast provides which voice. Go to Full Review

Noah H. @Noah85 Jan 16 AWESOME movie. Yeah, it may not be completely accurate to the comics, but I don’t care. This is a childhood favorite of mine and always will be. The voice casting is pretty solid in my opinion. Freddie Highmore is a PERFECT Astro Boy. Yeah, he may not be Japanese, but you can still truly feel the emotion in his performance. Nicolas Cage is also very good. He plays his role well, and that emotional weight is necessary since he’s voicing a father who lost his son. What I really appreciate about this movie is how dark it gets, something that resonates with me even more now as an adult. As a kid, I didn’t fully understand that, but now I do. The animation is still solid for being 17 years old, and the action is absolutely BLOOD PUMPING. I get goosebumps every time Astro flies or fights another robot. Yes, I’ll admit the human side characters Astro meets halfway through the movie are kind of lame, but you know what? Who cares? The movie isn’t about them. It’s about ASTRO and him finding his purpose. THAT is the emotional hook. And the score? OMG, it’s MESMERIZING. John Ottman absolutely CRUSHED it. I won’t spoil the ending, but if it doesn’t make you cry, I don’t know what will. If you decide to watch this movie, I actually don’t recommend reading the comics first. Go in as blind as possible. Give Astro Boy a try, you won’t regret it. I promise. See more vid g @vidguy20 Nov 28 i like some visuals in it.... but overall, it's a very weak movie...
