Critics Consensus

Unnecessary, unfunny, and generally unwelcome, Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son offers more of the same for fans of Martin Lawrence's perplexingly popular series.

Looking back, it's strange to remember that the first two movies were both hits, and that Paul Giamatti and Terrence Howard even saw enough in the premise to sign up for the original. At this point, it's really all just flab. Go to Full Review Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle Feb 25, 2011

It's a true rubber-necker's delight, a comedy so inconceivably tacky that it will make you question whether or not you're laughing at the film or with it. Go to Full Review James McMahon NME (New Musical Express) May 25, 2021

Big Momma's 3 isn't offensive. It isn't an unkind portrayal of obesity and its themes are light and carefree. But it's still dreadfully unfunny. Go to Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com Sep 3, 2020

Viewer @M2c46 Jan 24, 2026 Not funny, but I’m impressed with their hip hop skills, and pulling off the fat suits. My first and no doubt last venture into the Big Mama films. I was bored so I stuck with it to the end. See more Stephen C @bob25009 Dec 31, 2025 The worldwide gross is $82,686,066.00 over a budget of $32,000,000.00. More than 2 times the production budget. See more Pedro Henrique C @Pedro2005 Dec 11, 2025 Big Mommas: Like Faher, Like Son (2011) For me, this is a movie from the Big Momma's chapter and it's quite fun, but it lacked some of the iconic scenes that the previous ones had. See more Juan D @RT82074553 Jul 21, 2025 Not as funny as the first two but still enjoyable enough See more thiago s @Thiagostone Jun 19, 2025 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom, o filme tenta ser engraçado, mas não consegue em nenhuma cena no filme, com tudo isso, eu não recomendo esse filme. See more EMC 5 @RT33528247 May 18, 2025 Don’t listen to the critics, rewatched this movie after a few years and it’s an absolute banger, laugh out loud ranchy comedy with a pretty decent story good movie to watch for a laugh See more Read all reviews
