Very little happens between these two unhappy souls. And then, as the end nears, I found myself hoping it would keep going. Go figure. It takes quite some skill to be that crafty.

I do not need the “Before” trilogy. I need the “Compartment Number 6” trilogy. The lack of romance, picture perfect movie stars in beautiful clothes and eloquent characters was a refreshing approach. People being people and having childlike fun

an intimate, wonderfully acted and photographed film as 2 characters, each on their own paths, who re-examine themselves, when thrown together w/ someone from a completely different world.! WONDERFUL

Wish it is dubbed in English as the subtitles are hard to follow, at times. The female lead is shown to be smart but naive, whereas the miner is uneducated, but someone who learns to keep an open mind.

Shot and negatives smuggled at the border of Russia and Finland, this Finnish submission for the Best International Feature Film and Golden Globe nominee of the same category warms hearts with an unlikely friendship story of a student on a road trip to visit Kanozero Petroglyphs and a boorish miner as they share the titular train cabin en route a passage in winter from Moscow to Murmansk.
