Young Greg Heffley is looking forward to a long summer of just hanging out, but his mother throws a monkey wrench into his plans when she forces the entire family to take a road trip for a relative's birthday celebration. His eyes soon light up after he realizes that the excursion is his ticket to a gaming convention to meet YouTube sensation Mac Digby. Greg's imagination then kicks into overdrive as he sneakily hatches a scheme to attend the expo and gain some much-deserved fame.

At least Silverstone, who hasn't lost her gift for comic pouting, is allowed to bring some humanity and playfulness to her killjoy character -- though this mainly reinforces the impression that she deserves better roles.

Unlike the last three, this one is trash, no offense to the actor of Rodrick, but you just don't fit it, I'm not used to this new cast, why did they have to make a fourth one anyway?

First of all. The story is good. BUT! The cast of Greg is good and his mom and dad but Rodrick! But Why did they pick Charlie Wright as Rodrick?? And can't they recast Devon Bonstick? So I say it is not bad but not my fav

My first question: WHAT HAPPENED TO RODRICK!? The new cast was terrible. I watched all other three movies which were great, and then came to this one. It was SO awkward with the new cast. The old cast was made for the movie! This ruined my experience with diary of a wimpy kid movie. Gonna cry myself to sleep now 😢
