Joseph Dimacchia In Review Online Oct 3, 2026
One feels compelled to label First They Came for My College as partially spurious, given that its final act is one of retrospect, of sighing in relief that one’s own suffering is over, despite the fact that friends and colleagues continue to resist. Go to Full Review

There are probably some who will think that filmmaker Bresnan has too much of a liberal bent, especially when it comes to the depiction of student Josh’s transformation. However, the conservative voices we hear don’t do themselves any favors. Go to Full Review

A vital political documentary that occasionally gets lost in its pacing and focus and in its following of various uninteresting characters. Go to Full Review

Grant B @GrantBalfour 1 day ago What happens when your state promises to "fix" your academically oriented little public college and then installs a politician best known for a bid-rigging scandal in Jefferson County as a culture-war president? The most interesting thing about this documentary is that it doesn't take a single viewpoint, but instead lets students from all walks of life tell their own stories, collecting the footage they shoot and chronicling the events they found most revealing. Stuck in a conflict where appearance is everything (watch Astro-Turf rolled out over native grasses, stickers banned from student mailbox doors), maybe the best move is to let the subjects speak for themselves. Some are journalists, some are drama kids, some came to help the conservative movement - then got shocked to discover what the place was really like. The storyline is a little chaotic (now, in 2026, events are still unfolding), but the story itself is important, and hopeful, and fascinating in its telling. Don't wasse your time being told Right winger "Bad" while they say absolutely nothing about the gang life/perverts that enumerate left wing ideology. More 3rd worlders and less American born citizens is what these traitors push for. We will do what we want with OUR colleges See more Read all reviews
