What to Know

Critics Consensus

It may not have been necessary to remake the 1985 cult classic, but the new Fright Night benefits from terrific performances by Colin Farrell and David Tennant -- and it's smart, funny, and stylishly gory to boot.

If Fright Night is meant to be a send-up of the genre it takes itself too seriously - I can't remember a single decent joke, now I think about it - and if it isn't a send-up then it doesn't take itself seriously enough. Go to Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Jan 27, 2012

The fun of this new Fright Night is in the nuances, the quirky character bits and the sly bits of intelligence that sparkle along the way. Go to Full Review Jake Wilson The Age (Australia) Sep 16, 2011

Darrin M @RT15057856 3 days ago I liked it, not much rewatchability. But for a one-time viewing, it’s an entertaining mix of comedy/gore/vampire stuff. Colin Farrells always great. Does it surpass the original? NO! Is it a bad film? No! If you liked the 80s classic version I recommend you take a pause and give this movie a try. The casting for this movie was awesome, including a wonderful performance from the late Anton Yelchin. RIP. See more Read all reviews
