Grindhouse is both impressive and disappointing. From a technical and craft point of view it is first-rate; from its standing in the canon of the two directors, it is minor. Go to Full Review Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal Apr 9, 2007
The whole thing runs a bit over three hours, goes by swiftly, contains countless film references and includes hilarious fake trailers. Go to Full Review Claudia Puig USA Today Apr 9, 2007

A rowdy jolt of quasi-nostalgic escapism. Go to Full Review Ellie Lucas The Dispatch (Lexington, NC) Jun 5, 2019

An outrageously entertaining, slam-bang double feature Go to Full Review Dorothy Woodend The Tyee (British Columbia) Aug 23, 2017
The one thing that became evident to me, while watching Tarantino's homage to sewer cinema, is that even while the flesh is melting and being blown apart with bullets, if the spirit is missing, there simply isn't much point. Go to Full Review Ali Gray TheShiznit.co.uk Oct 14, 2012

Not just a movie but an event in its own right, Grindhouse is simply unmissable in its complete form. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

Harrison B @clinthoward Jun 11, 2026 Neither movie is exceptional. But okay! See more Stephen C @bob25009 Mar 14, 2026 Success in 3 hours and 11 minutes. See more mark g @Mark_Alan_G. Jan 15, 2026 Rodriguez film was entertaining enough. The Tarantino one sucked and never entertained. See more Jack F @MovieFan111 Nov 17, 2025 I just want to take a moment and say that Grindhouse is my favorite movie of all time. For the longest time, people have asked me what my favorite movie was, and I was never able to give them a clear answer. But I've finally settled on this. It's taught me so many things and I'm very thankful this exists. Get the movie poster. It's awesome. See more Dave S @RT68722908 Nov 14, 2025 If you’re ever to use the phrase "it is what it is" to describe a movie, Grindhouse would be a good candidate. Clocking in at over three hours, the movie pays homage to the low-budget exploitation films of the ‘70s and includes two full-length features (Planet Terror, directed by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof) and a handful of fictitious trailers directed by the likes of Rob Zombie, Eli Roth, and Edgar Wright. It’s kind of the cinematic equivalent of a great painter paying homage to "Dogs Smoking Cigars While Playing Poker", but who am I to judge? The whole thing sort of defies analysis, but full props to those involved for capturing the grindhouse vibe of a different era. If you like fast cars, scantily-clad women, and plenty of blood and guts, you’ll probably love Grindhouse. If you don’t like fast cars, scantily-clad women, and plenty of blood guts, Grindhouse will probably wear thin really fast. See more Jason H @RT50328122 Jul 1, 2025 Planet Terror is great. Death Proof is the only QT movie I don't like. See more Read all reviews
