Noah H @Noah85 2 days ago Meh. Typical R rated ’80s action movie. I enjoyed some of it, but ultimately felt unfulfilled by the time it was over. The decapitations were DISTURBING AS HELL, and I felt like I had seen this kind of story before. The best parts for me were the action, the visuals, and Sean Connery, even though I felt like his character was wasted since he was only in the movie for, like, what? 30 MINUTES?!?! That’s kind of a shame because I’m a pretty big fan of Sean Connery, so I really wish he had more to do in this. Oh well. If you’re a fan of super cheesy 1980s action flicks with REALLY disturbing decapitations, then go for it. Otherwise, I would say skip it. Rating: 5/10. Pretty disappointing. See more Jason E @Jason.Eaton Sep 21, 2026 Even though there are cheesy cinematic presentations of some characters and stereotypical 80s cinematography, this movie presents the back and forth in time better than modern works. Transitions from past to present and tying them together are well done. Character development for the main character is well completed early in the film. The music score is excellnt! It is an 80s movie but very engaging and entertaining after all these years! An movie accomplishing that deserves the accolades! See more Ashequl I @Tofa13 Sep 2, 2026 Russell Mulcahy’s Highlander (1986) is a surprisingly fantastic, action-packed cult classic that punches well above expectations. Driven by an extraordinarily creative premise—immortal warriors fighting through the centuries until only one remains—the film seamlessly blends 16th-century Scottish lore with gritty 1980s urban action. Christopher Lambert anchors the story with a grounded, mysterious presence, supported by Sean Connery’s charismatic mentorship and an absolute powerhouse, unhinged villain performance by Clancy Brown as The Kurgan. Backed by a legendary Queen soundtrack and dynamic, music-video-inspired cinematography, the swordplay and memorable climactic duel deliver genuine thrills. While a few dated effects and campy, childish humor beats hold it back slightly, it remains a wildly fun, unique, and deeply memorable fantasy experience. See more Johnathon W @Hoppynsc Jun 26, 2026 Superb fantasy epic that works off a simple premise to create a cult classic. The cast is solid across the board, with Christopher Lambert giving an excellent lead performance as Connor McCloud, the titular highlander, while Sean Connery delivers his usual gravitas as Ramirez. However, it's Clancy Brown who steals the shows as the villainous Kurgan, magnetic even at his most menacing. Behind the camera, director Russell Mulcahy crafts a fun fantasy with a simple but brilliant premise. He takes full advantage of the immortal concept, showing different time lines and how characters change while also delivering some fantastic action. A true fantasy classic to this day. See more Leprechaun K @LeprechaunKing May 25, 2026 Conan the Barbarian meets the Terminator. There's just too much going on in the movie and it is more comedic than it is serious. Directing isn't great and some elements are poorly written. However, the scenes shot in Scotland are gorgeous and Connery always delivers. See more Bethany May 6, 2026 Absolute must see cult classic.
