See more Paul S @RT22088805 11/24/2024 Utterly unique little horror film. I am a big fan of the short film and was over the moon when I saw it had been turned into a feature. This is low-budget filmmaking at its finest, and although the film does at points suffer from its constraints, the compelling story and the excellent performances (Julia Ormond and Lydia Page are fantastic) made me overlook any shortcomings. Watching this was like reading Handsel and Gretel or Bluebeard for the first time, in as much as it's like discovering a completely original, dark fairytale with a story you've NEVER seen before, which is pretty damn impressive for a horror film of this size. It doesn't rely on tropes or clichés, instead building its own world with its own twisted logic, with some crazy but very human characters at its core. So don't expect jump scares or malicious entities, (well, not what you might anticipate, anyway...) but do expect to be unsettled and deeply disturbed the longer it goes on and the crazier the things get.
