It's quite hard to pinpoint if Howling III is a bad film or a good one. Like the second in the series, it's mostly just a weird one. In the end, the only question that matters is: Is it entertaining? And the answer is yes. Yes, it is.

This is a painfully slipshod production, with its eccentricity (werewolf nuns! pregnant lycanthropes with kangaroo-like pouches! Barry Humphries in full Dame Edna regalia!) the only thing saving it from complete ruin.

It wants to be a psychological thriller, a horror romance, a satire of horror movies, and a werewolf picture all in one and fails to deliver on these aspects two fold.

The third of the Howling series is also the least reverential to Joe Dante's original horror movie, with Philippe Mora's tongue firmly in his cheek from the opening credits

Incomprehensible werewolf awfulness. (Still better than Part 2 though.)

Like a runaway thought train with no budget. Little pouch werewolf is nasty, too.

Is this even in the same universe as the first two films? It is a chore to even get through. Werewolf marsupials having babies, all with the worst special effects I’ve seen in some time.

Honestly this is absolutely atrocious and considering it's the third film and there are eight films it foreshadows how bad the others will be.
