Critics Consensus

While not as innovative as its title, Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person offers a dark-ish comedic take on a teen love story between misfits that renders a strangely sweet bite.

All round the film has less bite than you’d expect. But it’s stylishly shot by first-timer Louis-Seize, a bit reminiscent of an early Jim Jarmusch movie with its deadpan sense of humour, never trying too hard, just a little bit too cool for school.

This French vampire dramedy may not be groundbreaking, but its strong leads and dry humor make it well worth watching.

A charming, dark, comedic romp for a new generation that is a welcoming new branch to the vampire cinema tree.

The film is utterly delightful, anchored by two revelatory lead performances (particularly Félix-Antoine Bénard's Paul) and features a fresh take on vampires.

The idea of a reluctant vampire refusing to bite its victims isn't original... And certainly Louise-Seize and her co-writer Christine Doyon fail to come up with any new or clever variations on the premise... [Full review in Spanish]

The smokescreen of a vampire movie lets it navigate treacherous waters with levity, deftly touching on difficult topics.

Genuinely so peak. My favorite movie of all time, and been so since I first saw it in 2023. Not for everyone, but for the people that like horror, romance, and dry-comedies, this is most perfect movie ever. I'm glazing it a lot but it deserves it so much. I could watch this movie everyday for the rest of my life and not get bored.

Very satisfying vampire love story including several units of blood. The script stays creative for the duration. Very good cinematography and music. On Mubi.

I was looking for a movie with this kind of "asthetic": suicidal vampire, and this film really have this "asthetic".
