Sep 16, 2023 A weird but true story of always being in the mood The mood of wooing A very young Patrick Dempsey stars as Sonny Wisecarver; a 15 year old kid in 1944 During WWII society condemned him with kids idolizing him as he was infamous for sleeping with several women older than him One of his flames was Beverly D' Angelo as Francine along with Talia Basalm as Judy Sonny was always in a hurry to grow up so he kept himself occupied with any lady out of his league, didn't matter if they were married So what if he couldn't help it if he had a strong animal magnetism? Yet the court system found it appalling Sonny is given a chance to grow up but can he actually follow through? It's funny how this movie portrays this guy as a media sensation yet all the adults just chastise him every chance they get Almost anybody can relate to his position; growing up is hard but we shouldn't rush it It'll be over and done before we know it Maybe everything works out when we least expect it Love is very difficult but very good as well Dempsey's performance is sweet and genuine but has loads of humor too This definitely turns the 1940s inside out on itself Plus it rings truth about how men and women differ in their treatment of the subject of love Sweet, hilarious, and quite fun in its own right See more jon c Sep 18, 2022 A weird but true story of always being in the mood The mood of wooing A very young Patrick Dempsey stars as Sonny Wisecarver; a 15 year old kid in 1944 During WWII society condemned him with kids idolizing him as he was infamous for sleeping with several women older than him One of his flames was Beverly D' Angelo as Francine along with Talia Basalm as Judy Sonny was always in a hurry to grow up so he kept himself occupied with any lady out of his league, didn't matter if they were married So what if he couldn't help it if he had a strong animal magnetism? See more Jul 19, 2012 The 'some what factual' true story of Sonny W (The Woo Woo Kid) ...I think if this story is true it only would have happened in California. Patrick Demsey really held his own on this film despite it being not to amazing. It was interesting but seemed a bit far fetched in parts. Quite a cool look & style this film had set just after WW2. Both love interests gave great supporting roles, but overall it was silly to make this boy famous for his love affairs, goes to show how trivial media will be just to have a so called 'scoop'.... The set-up is funny, all the more so being based on a "true story". While it's true that today this sort of story wouldn't be met with such fanfare, it's fun to see the 1950's American public's reaction to it. IN THE MOOD is genial and sweet. It's little more than a cute comedy, but it contains some astute observations on the difference between men and women's approach to romance, and it will leave you with a smile on your face.
