Melissa L @Agent99 Mar 24, 2026 This is sad, but there is a good plotline, and it has more than one psychological device. I recommend it. See more SkyRo P @TheMovieSearch Jan 20, 2025 "Jamie Marks is Dead" features Cameron Monaghan, known for his role in the TV series "Shameless" and various independent films. The film has a notably dark tone, with editing and lighting that give it a very indie feel. This aesthetic makes it seem like a low-budget project that struggles to capture attention. The script feels disjointed, resembling a list of ideas rather than a coherent narrative. Cameron Monaghan delivers a strong performance, as he often does, but the rest of the cast seems underwhelming, almost as if they were randomly selected without any prior acting experience. Overall, the film lacks cohesion, and the writing is quite rough, leaving me disengaged from the story. It falls short compared to many contemporary films and feels rather uninspired. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you're looking for something to pass the time; it’s more suited for streaming rather than a movie ticket purchase. See more Diana S @DianaWho Sep 11, 2023 So I thought the novel this movie is based on would be a YA, but it doesn't appear to be, which is surprising. Jamie Marks Is Dead is better than a lot of tripe that's out there because it takes time to develop the characters and to form believable connections between them. The theme is not original but still human. The movie is too long, the piano chords are annoying, and the melodrama is a bit over the top. Nevertheless, if you're bored like I am and looking for something to focus on for an hour and forty minutes, this isn't the worst choice. See more Jan 17, 2017 disappointing supernatural drama about a student who develops a relationship with a ghost of a misfit classmate See more Jan 12, 2017 The concept of the film is interesting, and the well-shot bleak environment does mirror the feelings of the emotionally charged characters. The story is dour though. See more Read all reviews
